The distractable vertebral body replacement VBR is used for the surgical reconstruction of the anterior thoracic and lumbar spine. The VBR implant is placed between the vertebral bodies and facilitates spinal distraction and support which is stable under pressure. Indications include vertebral body destruction caused by tumors or fractures, for example. The VBR is available in a wide range of sizes.
The VBR can replace up to two affected vertebral bodies and is securely positioned between the vertebral bodies. If required, the implant can be filled with osseous material thanks to its large hollow cavity. This facilitates osseous integration of the VBR. The implant can be continuously distracted to an exact height in situ. The simple, well-organized instrumentation facilitates fast, safe surgery. Additional anterior or posterior instrumentation must be used to prevent dislocation of the VBR.
